Nominations are made by the nominee’s current or former colleague, associate, or close business partner (someone who can speak clearly and authentically about the nominee as a leader and his/her ethics). This is done via the nomination form.
In addition to basic biographical information, the form requests a description of the nominee’s leadership vis-a-vis at least one principle. Check the McGowan Principles.
Complete the nomination form by the April 1, 2022, deadline.
The selection committee will review all the nominations and select award finalists based on eligibility and alignment with the McGowan Principles.
The selection committee will interview award finalists, as well as their nominator and an additional representative. Conversations will focus on the nominee’s leadership practice and values-based decision-making. The committee will want to know how the nominee’s practice plays out in the 1) principled leadership of people, 2) establishment of processes, and 3) contributions to society.
The selection committee will identify an award winner. The winner will be notified, consent to media availability, and accept our invitation to the award ceremony.
The McGowan Award will be presented at the Society for Human Resource Management Annual Conference & Expo on Monday, June 13, 2022, in New Orleans.
